Sr. Engineering Technician
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to join our Electrical Engineering Department to provide Electrical Engineering support for product teams engaged in the development and sustainment of robotic systems. The ideal candidate will have incredible organizational skills and will be experienced in all facets of printed circuit board assembly, testing, trouble shooting in addition to procurement and tracking of prototype materials. The candidate will perform their duties under limited supervision, working from drawings, diagrams, and verbal direction.
Assist with prototype circuit board builds, including coordination with external PCB fabrication, assembly, and component vendors.
Generate purchase orders for prototypes in support of new product development efforts.
Perform the assembly, and repair of complex printed circuit board assemblies and wiring harnesses.
Assist with design verification activities on complex circuit boards under direction of the responsible engineer.
Troubleshoot circuit boards down to the component level.
Interpret engineering drawings to complete assembly tasks.
Provide technical support for all employees utilizing the lab facilities. Includes guidance on soldering techniques and workmanship standards.
Supervise activities within the lab ensuring quality, workmanship, and safety standards are followed.
Assist in tracking and maintenance of test equipment, such as DMM's, Oscilloscopes, Power supplies, Etc.
Support different projects and activities within a busy Electrical Engineering lab.
Support the lead lab technician in completing all incoming lab work and lab maintenance.
Skills: REQUIRED EXPERTISE AND SKILL SETS
Minimum 4-6 years of related experience working in a fast-paced product development environment Excellent bread-boarding and prototyping skills IPC 610 class 2 soldering experience Electrical component distributor knowledge Demonstrated and working knowledge of IPC standards for soldering and cable assembly Experienced with Electrical Engineering lab equipment: Oscilloscope, DVM and Power Supplies Strong technical writing and communication skills Assembly and re-work of fine pitch surface mount devices Comfortable with the use of small hand tools for the assembly and disassembly of home robots
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Familiarity with EE CAD tools, Altium Designer preferred Familiar with ESD monitoring and mitigation.
Proficient with MS Office products: Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint Familiarity with consumer product development Ability to multi-task between different projects and internal customers
