IS Business Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY: The IS Business Analyst is responsible for independently managing or assisting the Global IT Application team and Project Managers in identifying the business needs of their customers and stakeholders to help determining solutions to business problems. This position is responsible for understanding system platforms, requirements elicitation, analysis, validation and documentation. The IS Business Analyst manages project deliverables and sets priorities related to requirements effort, keeps appropriate project activities on schedule, leads business teams and cross-competency teams completing tasks related to business solution planning, business case development, and managing customer requirements. S/He works collaboratively with business representatives, Project Management and IS teams to develop and implement specific technologies and architecture necessary to deliver business solutions, supports the development of test cases to ensure that the solution meets the requirements specified. S/He is ultimately responsible and accountable for project success on all requirements activities.
PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Manufacturing Experience is a must.
1. Assist in determining the best solution for the business issue being addressed by the active project. 2. Contribute to the business case development. 3. Work with business process owners and drive the effort in determining and documenting project requirements, use stories, and business process documents. 4. Coordinate and manage workshops to analyze, define, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements. 5. Support Manufacturing operations with processes and requirements. 6. Work with the development and QA team to translate requirements when needed. 7. Support QA team with test strategy and test case development. 8. Plan, monitor, manage, and communicate progress on all requirements activities throughout the lifecycle of a project. 9. Identify and mitigate project issues and/or risks related to requirements with escalation/delegation of issues to appropriate members of the project team. 10. Responsible for managing relationships with businesses and vendors pertaining to requirement effort. 11. Work with downstream application, architecture, and development teams in the refinement of requirements and documentation. 12. Lead and train others on process improvement initiatives and BA methodologies. 13. Actively participate in process improvement initiatives by providing feedback on existing processes. 14. Where appropriate, business liaison on day-to-day business needs. 15. Understand the current processes and business challenges. 16. Work with the internal resources to assess the current state of how requirements are documented. Educate team on industry best practices. 17. Define and establish guidelines and appropriate control measures for future requirement management.
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE: • 10+ years of successful business analysis in software development lifecycle focusing on business applications, including business planning, system and data analysis, process analysis and design, business and functional requirements analysis, and use case/user story analysis. Position Description • 7+ years of leadership and management experience in leading a BA team with requirements management utilizing industry best practices. • Experience in both waterfall (large waterfall project is a must have) and pure agile environment. • Expert with software development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, etc. • Excellent analytical skills for complex problem solving.
REQUIRED SKILLS: • Ability to build client relationships and create client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills. • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, Visio or LucidChart, and Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence). • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and manage tasks on multiple projects concurrently. • Strong planning and estimating skills on BA activities across all phases of the project lifecycle. • Competency in using all processes and tools required to perform required duties and tasks. • Must be able to identify, assess and resolve complex business problems/issue/risks and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation. • Familiar with manufacturing processes and vocabulary • Risk assessment, negotiation and problem resolution skills. • Ability to bridge communication amongst technical and non-technical project staff and customers/vendors. • Excellent reasoning and strong decision-making skills. • Meticulous attention to detail. • Ability to motivate and develop team members and manage other associates in a project setting. • Thorough understanding and practical experience with BMBOK.
EDUCATION: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with information technology focus.
PREFERRED AND NOT REQUIRED: • Product Owner certification. • BA certification. OTHER: • Ability to travel in US and Canada (up to 25%) at any given time after COVID.
