Senior Program Manager
Our client is seeking: Sr. Program Manager, to lead our large, complex and multi-disciplinary projects based out of our Boston office. You will need to be someone that can lead a team of highly skilled engineers and scientists to deliver fast, high risk product development projects for our clients.
You will have a role that is both externally and internally focused. You will be responsible for scoping, planning and delivering our projects to time & budget and building our relationship with our client. At the same time, you will need to lead your project team to deliver to our promises and will be responsible for the strategic direction, team selection and budget for the project.
Managing multiple projects at any one time you will be capable of switching gears and managing different projects for clients in different market sectors. To do this you will be managing our project team members that are in various locations around the world.

What will you be doing
Our Program Managers have a varied and wide role with a high level of autonomy for project direction, spend and staffing. You will be involved at all stages of project delivery, from being part of the sales team to win the business through to delivering multiple phases of a project to our clients.
You will be involved in the following activities:
As a Program Manager you will work closely with our Business Developers and Technical Experts understand client needs and scope statements of work as an estimated price contract.
Your clients may be local or remote and include technical, marketing, sales, finance, regulatory, and/or upper management stakeholders. You will be the primary point of contact for your clients and you will regularly report project expenses, product costs, and performance against milestones.
You will manage cross-functional teams who may span multiple geographies. You will define and recommend a project team which may comprise: Software Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Designers, Human Factors Engineers, Electronics/Electrical Engineers, RF Engineers, Physicists, and Analysts. You may have from 3 – 20 members on a project team, and you may manage 1 – 4 projects at any one time.
Your projects will span various phases of product development – this could include the full development lifecycle or a standalone phase at any level of product maturity depending on the specific needs of your client. You will ensure your projects adhere to relevant quality and safety standards. You will also proactively manage programmatic and technical risks, establish comprehensive design inputs and requirement specifications, facilitate design reviews, and resolve problems that arise during development.
In addition to your PM responsibilities, you will help drive the growth of the Industrial, Consumer, and Energy division in Boston by playing a key role in supporting business development and building long-term relationships with key clients. You will contribute to recruitment activities to attract top talent and participate in internal operational and commercial discussions.
Reporting to the regional Director of Projects and Operations, you will work closely with other members of the leadership team defining and delivering on the vision and strategy to grow the Industrial, Consumer and Energy business in Boston. Ideal candidate is a holistic and strategic thinker that closely collaborates with internal and external key stakeholders to build an integrated capability for winning and delivering projects globally. We are looking for a hands-on business and technology innovator that thrives on challenges and constantly seeks to drive execution excellence and has a tenacity for further improvements.
What you need for this position
A successful candidate has:
- Proven track record in leading project delivery of R&D product development (concept through launch) projects
- Over 10 years of experience of managing risk and timeline for product development programs with novel content (i.e., high technical risk, complexity, and uncertainty)
- Experience managing geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary teams
- Expert communication (verbal & written), organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Additionally, the following skills would be advantageous:
- Experience managing projects for external clients and being the primary point of contact
- Direct industry experience in one or more of the following markets: consumer healthcare, Agri-tech, or industrial sensing & control
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to discussions on contractual agreements
