Claim Service Coordinator (Workers Compensation)
Responsible for the efficient and effective flow of data within the claim’s unit. The scope of responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, the following: data entry, maintenance of files, handling of mail, processing of reports and providing prompt and courteous telephone assistance.
Essential Job Functions
• Enter all initial data from submitted claims into computer system. • Set up claim files. • Distribute Mail. • Process and print claim checks. • Mail checks after signature by appropriate Claim Manager. • Copy all file material as necessary for transmissions to attorneys, clients, claim representatives working remotely, etc. • Close files upon request. • Process claim records with high level of accuracy. • Answer incoming phone calls, take messages as necessary. • Produce monthly check register for client claims and reconcile any mistakes. • May handle claims under comprehensive auto coverage (i.e., glass claims) or other similar claims per supervisor discretion. • Fax material as requested. • Assist Claims Staff with various clerical functions as necessary. • Provide back-up reception coverage. • Other duties and projects which may be assigned from time to time.
The following are required to enable the employee to perform the essential functions of the job:
1. Skills/knowledge – Must be computer literate with above average data entry skills. Should possess good communication skills (written and oral) and be able to function within a team-oriented group. The ability to handle detail items accurately is essential. The ability to operate a personal computer, calculator, fax, copy machine, and telephone is essential.
2. Experience/education – At least one year of experience in a claim department operation or equivalent administrative work experience requested. High School diploma required. Some college or business school work is desirable.
