Technical Support Engineer

We prefer someone with a BSEE, (but will accept ASEE or ASET) with strong testing, troubleshooting and debugging skills. Will require some travel occasionally. A former Field Service Engineer who doesn't want to travel 100% would be an ideal candidate. The TSE assists FSE when they have trouble fixing lasers in the field... 

MUST SPEAK FRENCH and ENGLISH - will be supporting the field engineers across Canada

OVERVIEW:

Responsibilities include providing education and technical support to service providers and our customers. Conducting formal training on our products. Compiling analyzing, and distributing field data reports to service management and other internal departments.

Focus of this position is to become proficient in servicing all of our products while mastering customer service skills, including full utilization of customer software, service principles, and company policies. A level I rep may assist in teaching formal training sessions as well as providing simple field support, in a tech support capacity.

Will be assisting FSE in the field troubleshooting and repairing medical laser systems. Based in Waltham, will travel ~ 20% of the time to assist FSE's when needed, national and occasionally international...strong electronics background (BSEE/ASEE) in troubleshooting to component level...when the FSE is unable to fix laser, he will call the Tech support Group and they will duplicate the problems, resolve, and describe how to fix to FSE...Good customer service skills needed...Have had success with former Field Service people who do not want to travel 100% of the time...

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Learn all about products

o   Service procedures, troubleshooting, technical trends, etc.

o   Perform on-site service either with or substituting for a field service rep

o   Work with and learn from internal departments, such as final test and engineering

·         Learn all departmental policies and procedures

o   Understand where to find information

·         Learn all departmental customer software, in order to retrieve and analyze situations

o   Learn to provide device histories

o   Provide trending information from database

·         Begin to provide Technical Support via. Phone, by reviewing device service histories 

QUALIFICATIONS:   

This position requires at least there (3) years’ experience in a technical environment. BS or A.S degree in electronics or equivalent, combined with the above experience level.
